I think the Q&A was great and I’m glad to see so much local interest in SEO. You can check out all the conversation about the session using the hashtag #pcn10wpseo.

I’m glad I got to meet with everyone today. If I didn’t get to chat with you, or our conversation was cut short, I do apologize. It was a fun, but very busy day. If you have any more questions, or we didn’t get to chat as much as you’d like, please don’t hesitate to email me at justin (at) spurrmarketing.com. You can also follow and chat with me on Twitter on @seozombie.

Here are the slides. SlideShare messed up the formating from Keynote, but they still work.

I was asked about this earlier today and figured I should do ahead and look into it as a good solution didn’t appear high enough on Google to find, so here it is. Now, don’t go blaming me if this ruins your life or kills your Chrome.

We have two wonderful AppleScript files that you can combine into your own application and put that in the Dock for regular usage or play with.

Permanently Pin Tabs In Google Chrome

Configure the script below by editing the number of tabs and urls.
Download Tab Pinner

do shell script "exec /Applications/Google\\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\\ Chrome $@ -pinned-tab-count=2 http://spurrmarketing.com/ http://www.twitter.com/"

Fix “Your profile could not be opened correctly.”

Simple download the script and run it or create your own AppleScript from the code.
Download Tab Pinner

do shell script "rm -rf ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Google/Chrome/Backup/"
do shell script "mv ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Google/Chrome/Default/ ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Google/Chrome/Backup/"

tell application "Google Chrome"
	activate
end tell

delay 5

tell application "Google Chrome"
	quit
end tell

do shell script "rm -rf ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Google/Chrome/Default/"
do shell script "cp -R ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Google/Chrome/Backup/ ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Google/Chrome/Default/"

A Google Chrome extension to let users of Google Analytics know YOU went to their site, reverse privacy of sorts.

Everyone and their dog is worried about privacy these days. There are over 3 million results for ‘Facebook privacy’. Every day you will hear something else about Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Big Company and how they aren’t doing enough for our privacy. Well, Facebook basically owns your life now, and Google can track you back to the first time you Googled yourself. Why is privacy important? Is it? You can decide, but what I am going to do is let you know when I visit your website.

Name Dropper lets other website owners who use Google Analytics know when YOU have been to their site. How does it do this? It executes a tracking event, so when the admin checks their event tracking, they will see a new category, Guest List, and the users’ info will be shown in labels.

“But wait,” you say, “I don’t want people knowing I’m visiting *dirty websites*, much less knowing my name!” Well Google already knows where you go, and Facebook knows who you are, and if we correlate that data, we know who you are, where you live, what TV shows you enjoy and what websites you go to. Personally, I don’t care to know any of that, but the people pushing ads to you love it–they eat it up. Now you say, “I don’t like that–I feel like they’re stalking me.” They are, and they’re not going to stop, they know you’re not going to stop using Google, and you’re not going to stop using Facebook.

This is like being a star, except you’re not important and you realize that, but it’s still fun leaving a calling card. Yes, I’m sure people will exploit it: Lady Gaga didn’t visit your crappy blog, and Elvis is dead, so he didn’t visit your fan site. But if you’re lucky, someone will visit your site, and wouldn’t it be nice to be able to introduce yourself to more than an IP?

Notes: A lot of the info on user tracking is over simplified and greatly generalized. Don’t panic, yet.

My slides from my session at Barcamp Nashville 2009. It was a great presentation about SEO for designers and developers. A lot of tips for building a search friendly website.

Last weekend I presented at the third annual Barcamp Nashville and had a blast. It was my first speaking gig, and it went really well. I expected a small showing, but no, somewhere between 150 to 200 people showed up to see me speak. Was an extremely exciting experience.

My session was on Design, Development & SEO: Building Search-Friendly Websites. I thought I’d be a great top to cover after winning the Marketing Pilgrim SEM contest a few months back. If you missed that, my article 9 SEO Tips for Attractive Search Engine Friendly Web Design won first place. As a result, I’m traveling a lot this Fall for SMX and PubCon.

For anyone wishing to catch my slides from my session, I’ve uploaded them to slide share.
